Dr. Michael Kemp, a Capella faculty member since 2010, holds the prestigious Certified Emergency Manager (CEM) credential and has taught emergency and disaster management courses as an associate professor with American Military University. He has more than 16 years experience working in conjunction with several sovereign nations and within the local, state, and federal levels of the U.S. government. He also has experience working with FEMA, the Emergency Management Accreditation Program (EMAP), the FBI, the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center, and the U.S. Marine Corps.

  • PhD in Emergency Management, North Dakota State University
Career Highlights
  • One of very few individuals in the U.S. with a PhD in Emergency Management

  • Serves as the Institutional Review Board Chair for the Comprehensive Emergency Management Research Network
